NEAPI (New Autonomous Education for Indigenous People) is composed of 9 autonomous elementary schools. They are run on private funding completely apart from the government. The children come from families that live on less than $200 USD a year. They are farming families and survive off the corn and beans they plant. The teachers come from the same communities and only make $50 a month. Each school has a small community library with a library coordinator. Their libraries are composed of 50-200 books per school.
